Mandatory Fees
Campus Fee
The campus fee is charged to all full-time and part-time students on each regional campus (New Brunswick, Newark, Camden) in order to support student enhancement programs, services, and facilities, which complement and support the academic experience, such as health services, recreation centers, student centers, student events and concerts, campus buses, and athletics, among others. Part-time students are charged a smaller amount because the fee for part-time students does not include health services coverage and athletic event tickets.
OFF-Campus Fee
Off-campus and fully online students are charged an off-campus fee which is significantly lower than the campus and school fees charged to on-campus undergraduate students. The off-campus fee funds the additional costs borne by our schools to provide educational programs and related services to distant students, as well as resources such as the libraries and career services.
Please note this is based on whether you attend on campus or off campus. This is not determined by whether you live on campus or not.
School Fees
The school fee funds supplemental costs unique and particular to the enhancement programs of an undergraduate or graduate school at Rutgers. Included in this category are charges such as the School of Business fee, the law library fee at the law school in Camden and Newark, and the conservatory fee at the Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick. The school fees are identified by the school codes.
Computer Fee
The computer fee supports many student technology services including internet access, networking, wireless services, email services, myRutgers, and instructional technology services. Computer fee revenue is the major funding source for the many student computer labs located throughout Rutgers. Staffed by student consultants, these facilities offer students access to state-of-the-art computer equipment, a large selection of software applications, and printing services. This fee also supports technology used in classrooms as well as other teaching labs used for instructional courses requiring applied computer interaction.
Course Fee
The course fee covers the cost of supplies, equipment, and materials utilized in classes for instructional purposes. This does NOT include the cost of books. All registered students are responsible for paying that class's associated course fee. If you are enrolled in multiple classes that each require payment of respective course fees, the sum of these fees will show up as a consolidated charge on your term bill.
New Student Fee
All first-year, transfer, and international students in Camden and New Brunswick will be assessed a new student fee on their term bills. This fee covers the cost of orientation and transition programs, resources for new students, and outreach programs for parents and family members designed to help new students and their families during the first year at Rutgers University. All new students are expected to attend orientation and transition events. This fee will be assessed regardless of attendance at orientation and transition events.
Note: International graduate students holding F and J visas in Camden, Newark, and New Brunswick will be charged a new student fee as well.

Douglass Residential College Fee
A $50 per semester fee is charged to students who join Douglass Residential College (DRC). Douglass Residential College provides special programming and resources to DRC students, including traditional programs and events, student travel opportunities, and innovative teaching.
On-Campus Dining and Housing
Students who choose to live on campus and/or dine at the university operated dining facilities will have these charges included on their semester term bill. Rutgers Dining Services and Residence Life services offer many choices for both meal plan contracts and on-campus housing. Meal plan rates vary depending on how many meals are contracted per semester. Housing costs vary for the many different dormitories and apartments available.
